Skate Park
Dear Parents and guardians , We have begun Skateboard Science, a unit that meets national and state standards for teaching physical science. Students will work in teams to explore the physics in skateboarding. Using what they have learned, they go on to design and build a cardboard working model skate park using everyday materials.
Skateboard Science is an educational simulation. The students assume the different roles relating to the construction of a skate park, such as architect, engineer, and accountant. These roles rotate so that all students have the opportunity to share the responsibilities needed to complete this cooperative activity. In order to construct the skate parks, we need to collect quite a few recyclable cardboard items. If possible, please contribute as many as you can: · Cardboard rolls from paper towels, bathroom tissue, wrapping paper, etc. · Circular boxes such as those for oatmeal or Pringles · Flat, single-ply cardboard from cereal boxes, facial tissue boxes, shirt cardboard, or gift boxes · Cardboard beverage flat boxes (like those used for 24 cans of soda) Thank you for your support! |
